10 Most Popular Car Shows Across the World

Car enthusiasts can get the latest updates regarding the upcoming vehicles from various car manufacturers thanks to auto shows. Most brands reveal the new models of their upcoming year’s line-up during these shows. Here are some of the most famous car shows that are worth a visit.

Famous Car Shows- North American International Auto Show

The North American International Auto Show is held annually in the city of the big three car manufacturers namely Ford, General Motors, and Fiat. Usually, the auto show runs for nine days straight and welcomes a variety of visitors. According to the Detroit Historical Society, this auto show attracts around 800,000 visitors. Among the many cars that have been revealed during these shows over the years, the GMC Cyclone, Infiniti Q45, and Lexus LS400 were some prominent reveals.

The Geneva Motor Show

This is also a very popular motor show that is considered ideal for automotive brands to unveil their new launches. Among the various car unveiled at the event, the 2018 Bentley Continental Supersports, 2019 Ferrari 488 Pista, Lamborghini Huracán Performante Spyder, and BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe are some special mentions. Some cars like the Rimac C_Two Hypercar and Bentley Mulliner Bacalar were scheduled to be unveiled during the 2020 show, however, it was canceled due to the pandemic.

The CarFest North and South

This car show was an initiative taken by the radio announcer Chris Evans back in 2012. The event was organized to raise funds for ‘BBC Children in Need’, and it turned into an annual event that celebrates music and cars. Owing to the on-going pandemic the show was not held in 2020 but for 2021 the show is planning to organize a socially distanced event which will stretch over three days. The CarFest North and South aims to raise £2 million (approximately $2.5 million) for children’s charities.

The London Motor Show

Another show that had been on a hiatus is the London Motor Show, fortunately, the show resumed back in 2016. Ever since the event has been held every year and in recent years it has become a platform for car debuts. MG unveiled their first fully electric vehicle which was an SUV model called the ZS EV. Other than MG, McLaren also debuted the UK model of the 570GT at the London Motor Show. The event is scheduled to return this year in July and as per reports, the event will be highlighting technology.

The Tokyo Motor Show

If you are a car enthusiast interested in futuristic cars, then this is the show for you. The Tokyo Motor Show has been dubbed as one of the best cars shows in the world. This show is held every other year and it is known for showcasing some of the most exciting range of futuristic cars created.

Like every other car show, there are some interesting car debuts at the Tokyo Motor Show as well.  In 2019, Nissan unveiled its concept car called Ariya which was a family SUV whereas, Mitsubishi revealed the Mi-Tech which was a two-seater. The next show is scheduled for late this year during October or November. The organizers have revealed the theme of the event as “open future”.

The Auto Shanghai

This auto show is held after every two years and it alternates with the Beijing Auto Show. Known as the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition, the show was last held in 2019. The show is joined by multiple vehicles from various leading car brands from all over the world. These included brands like Lamborghini, Hyundai, Alfa Romeo, Mitsubishi Motors, Acura, and Maserati.

According to the post-show report released a total of 129 cars were unveiled at the Shanghai Auto show. During the show Renault City K-ZE EV CUV was introduced to the attendees as well. The next show is scheduled this year and the tentative date is April 21, 2021.

The Woodward Dream Cruise

This auto show is different from others in terms of its scale as this one is a relatively smaller event and it primarily focuses on classic cars. According to the organizers of the show, the scale of the Woodward Dream Cruise may be small, but it does get a lot of tractions. The show is said to attract over a million visitors every year which is an impressive number. The show has an excellent variety of vintage cars as these vehicles are flown in from all over the world including vehicles from Russia, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. Around 40,000 cars are said to be exhibited at the show every year. One of the highlights of the shows is a five-kilometer run or walk that is called the “Cruise-In” event.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed

This auto show dates to 1993 when it was initiated by Lord March. The Goodwood Estate has been part of British racing history which is why having a car show was a sensible move. The festival also has special attendees including famous brands like Mercedes, Red Bull, and Ferrari. The show has also provided an opportunity for racing fans to meet the F1 star, Lewis Hamilton. Some car brands also choose to unveil their supercars at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. This is without a doubt a massive car show that attracts a lot of attention from car enthusiasts.

The British International Motor Show

The last show held by the British International Motor Show was in 2008 after which the show was discontinued. The show has introduced vehicles like Rover 75, Jaguar S-Type, and Lexus IS 200. The organizers were bringing it back in 2020 but sadly due to the pandemic the show was pushed. However, it has been announced the show will be back this year. The scheduled date for the auto show is August 19, 2021, and the ticket available for purchase.

The Paris Motor Show

This motor show is held annually, and it is yet another show for futuristic concept vehicles. Among the vehicles that have been introduced includes Forease by Smart, which is a two-seater convertible, E-Legend by Peugeot that can accelerate from 0-60 mph in only four seconds. Renault also unveiled multiple models that included the EZ-Pro, EZ-Ultimo, and EZ-Go. The 2020 show was scheduled in October, but it was canceled due to the on-going pandemic, we can hope for a show in 2021 but it is too early to say anything with certainty.
